On the loose

This morning while getting my mail I noticed there were a few police officers parked on the road. One of them pulled up into the driveway, and I walked over and asked if I could help him.

He told me there was a coyote roaming the neighborhood and because he noticed me outside with the kids, he wanted me to be cautious. He asked me if we had any food out that might attract it and told me this coyote was just hanging out in the grass at the moment and seemed friendly (?)

A coyote!

I never did see this coyote they were talking about, but I did keep a close eye on the kids and told them to keep their eye out for a "big dog" and told them it wasn't friendly.

My only question is : Do coyotes eat small children?
